About All in the Tail
All in the Tail started out in 2022 and opened its knowledge base to the world with big ambitions to change and update the approach to dog training. This section will go through my personal journey, how I chose the name, why I chose to become a dog trainer, and what I plan to do in the future.
Why All in the Tail?
The name: "All in the Tail" was inspired by my dog, Luna. Much like many who wear their hearts on their sleeves, Luna wears hers on her tail. Regardless as to the situation, you can always tell what's on her mind based of her tail's actions. I often say Luna and her tail are two separate entities, as she will indicate via body language one emotion, yet her actions indicate another, but in her case, the tail never lies! For most dogs, body language is the most important way they can communicate, and over the time I've had her, I've learned how she communicates to me using her tail. Some dogs have different prominent features regarding body language, which can be their ears, body position, or any number of things. It's really important that we try to understand what our dogs are feeling, so that we can better guide them to have a happy life. So in a way, my dogs tail, tells her tale!

Our beginnings
Growing up, I was always fascinated by dogs, and their capabilities. I always wanted a dog growing up, as we had family that had dogs who I was very close with, but I was always told, "You can get a dog when you get your own house." So that's exactly what I did. A few months prior, I started my journey to becoming a dog trainer, because I wanted to ensure my dog got the best start to her life, and that I was doing right by her, by gaining Level 3 Diploma in Dog Behaviour and Training and a Pet Psychology Diploma in 2020. After getting my own puppy, I realised just how much work goes into raising them, and just how misunderstood a lot of dogs are. For whatever reason, I understood what was going through dogs minds, which was the key to my training. I considered how I would feel in the dogs position, which led me down the force free training route, and towards the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT). It was with the IMDT that I attended both the: "2 Day Career as a Dog Trainer Course" and "4 Day Practical Instructor Course" and await my assessment, which is booked for November 2022, where I hope to become an IMDT Member.
